The foundation of the Isle of Man Green Party occurred just before the last General Election in the Isle of Man in August 2016. In part, the Party was a response to the election and a perceived under-appreciation of “green” ideas in Isle of Man politics, but also the then current and historic lack of ‘party politics’ in the Isle of Man and a recognition that people joining together in mutual causes for the governance of society is fundamental institution of participatory democracy.
And so the Isle of Man Green Party started with a meeting in a small room in a house in central Douglas, with an agreement on a constitution defining the object of the sustainable future of the Isle of Man and the rules that would bind the Party in bringing it about.
