The Green Conference 2023 is open to the public and represents an opportunity for the Green Party to raise the profile of the expertise and knowledge of inspiring individuals in the Isle of Man, as well as engaging with some of the fundamentally important concepts and ideas of our time.

Following the last four Green Conferences in Laxey, Castletown, Peel, and St Johns, this year's conference is being held in Ramsey in the upper room in Ramsey Courthouse. 

Conference Speakers

The Green Party has invited three inspiring speakers to discuss three important and engaging topics.  Our conference speakers will present for 15-20 minutes with a time for questions.  The itinerary for the Green Conference is found further below.

 

Communicating ClimatE

Helena Cicmil (MPhil, UCL).

Helena is a senior communications consultant, providing services to the environmental, non-profit and tech-for-good sectors, specialising in content, campaigns and digital.  Over the last 10 years, Helena has worked with global NGOs, charities, research organisations, B2B and B2C businesses and start-ups, on topics from corporate disclosure to women’s education.

artificial intelligencE

Jason bissell

Jason has been a Managing Director, CEO, and strategic adviser to a myriad of companies around the world.  He has a particular expertise in working with Governments and industry to define data strategies to support business and AI use cases.  Prior to moving to the Isle of Man, Jason spent 12 years in Singapore as CEO/SVP founding and leading teams for market defining data and AI companies such as Databricks, Talend, Birst and QlikTech.  Jason now works with companies and governments to develop AI strategies to safely use data for social and economic good.

Transforming education

Dr MAtthew Warren (PHD, Dunelm)

Matthew is an educator, researcher, and musician. This month, he and Sarah Mercer launched Earthscope Isle of Man, a social enterprise offering training and partnerships to businesses and communities that are interested in leading the way towards a culture that puts nature at the heart of decision making. Matthew is also a guild-winning composer and has recently finished a new piece for St German's Cathedral Choir. Matthew's research has focussed on higher education in England, a subject he builds on in this talk by addressing the idea of the University in the face of the Climate and Nature Crisis.
