The Party Objectives

The Isle of Man Green Party was founded in August 2016 to re-frame the structure of Isle of Man politics to appreciate and embody political parties, and to provide a vision and policies for a sustainable Island.

The Party provides a forum for citizens of the Isle of Man to build a movement seeking change and direction in Isle of Man politics. The objectives of the Isle of Man Green Party are defined in paragraph 2 of the Party Constitution:

2. OBJECTS

2.1 The Objects of the Party shall be:

2.1.1. The conception, promotion, and implementation of policies for the sustainable social, cultural, environmental and economic development of society in the Isle of Man

2.1.2. To that end, the endorsement of candidates for election to the House of Keys, Legislative Council, and local authorities, and

2.1.3. Working in solidarity with green parties of other jurisdictions, and green parties globally

Relationship with Other Green Parties

The Isle of Man Green Party is a political party of the Isle of Man. It does not have a formal connection with other green parties (e.g. the Green Party of England & Wales, the Scottish Green Party, or the Green Party in Northern Ireland). However, the Isle of Man Green Party retains the object to work in solidarity with green parties of other jurisdictions, uniting in the principles of the Global Green Party (Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice, Participatory Democracy, Nonviolence, Sustainability, Respect for Diversity).

The Green Isle Alliance is a panel comprising of representatives of the Green Parties of the British Isles in a conversation on the concept of building collaborative ties to bring strength and coordinated message to the principles of the Green Parties.

The Isle of Man Green Party’s vision for the achievement of the Biosphere, are through its 5 core Principles, culminating in the central Principle of the Party, the achievement of Sustainability.
